There was once a dream and that was Rome. Admittedly four years of Latin at school had raised high expections in me. However, despite the crowds, I felt deeply impressed and humble walking on these grounds.

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." Mellow words by Marc Aurel, the man who ruled Rome at the height of its power.

"The trains at our parties are the best in Rome. They're the best 'cause they go nowhere." Jep Gambardella, La Grande Belleza – I rarely saw a city whose history constantly seems to remind you of your future.

To climb Michelangelo's dome you will have to take 515 steps. In some spots the stair case is so narrow that a rope running down the middle replaces the railings – not good for claustrophobics. However the view over the Piazza San Pietro and Rome is indeed worth it.

Postcards from the Search

This is actually an old title from a series of surf movies. I picked it up as a graphic design student and used it to publish travel photography. Just recently, ten years later, I have found myself in the mood to start again:

March 2017 – Rome

I finally had the chance to visit Rome the Eternal City. We walked the paths of the emperors at Forum Romanum, had a breathtaking view from St. Peter's Basilica and enjoyed the local nightlife at Trestevere and Testaccio.

See the photos of my journey in the gallery.

August 2016 – Zermatt

In Zermatt we climbed the Rothorn, saw the melting Theodul Glacier and hiked to the base camp of the Matterhorn before leaving Switzerland to spend a few nights in Varenna at Lake Como.

Stay tuned, all photos of this journey are coming soon ...
